The Empress Theatre, Brixton, 'Jack and the Beanstalk', presented by Don Ross, 1937.

Don Ross was later to tour his Music Hall tribute show 'Thanks For The Memory' for many years, where, along with his wife, Gertie Gitana (famed for introducing 'There's an old mill by the stream, Nelly Dean') he presented G.H. Elliott, Randolph Sutton, Billy Danvers and other Music Hall greats in theatres around the country.

This production has as its star one 'Tommy Fields', billed as 'Gracie's Clever Brother', playing the role of Dame Trott. At this time Gracie Fields was one of the highest paid stars in the land. The billing is not unusual - a few years ago the Theatre Royal Hanley billed Wendy Turner as 'Anthea's Sister'!
