Panto Bills and Posters

A Playbill and Programme cover from the Palladium production Peter Pan.

Peter Pan, although not truly a Pantomime, was for many years an annual production in London. This programme dates from 1931 when the production played for two seasons at the London Palladium.

The cast features Jean Forbes-Robertson, a member of a theatrical dynasty dating back to Victorian Times. She was often referred to as the definitive "Peter Pan". The production features the famous actress and Edwardian beauty Zena Dare (born 1887) as Mrs. Darling- Zena and her sister Phyllis had frequently appeared in pantomimes in their earlier years.

Interesting to note amongst the lost boys- mostly appearing on behalf of the Italia Conti school in Clapham, two names. Graham Payne, the protege of Noel Coward, and his biographer in later years, and, also a child in the production is Charles Hawtrey, later to acheive fame in the Will Hay films and the "Carry on" film series.
