Peter Pan, although not truly a
Pantomime, was for many years an annual production in London. This programme
dates from 1931 when the production played for two seasons at the London
The cast features Jean
Forbes-Robertson, a member of a theatrical dynasty dating back to Victorian
Times. She was often referred to as the definitive "Peter Pan".
The production features the famous actress and Edwardian beauty Zena Dare
(born 1887) as Mrs. Darling- Zena and her sister Phyllis had frequently
appeared in pantomimes in their earlier years.
Interesting to note amongst the
lost boys- mostly appearing on behalf of the Italia Conti school in Clapham,
two names. Graham Payne, the protege of Noel Coward, and his biographer in
later years, and, also a child in the production is Charles Hawtrey, later
to acheive fame in the Will Hay films and the "Carry on" film
